This Barley Grass Juice
Is Good for You!

My Story with Barley Grass

Every morning, first thing, I take a teaspoonful of barley grass powder in a glass of water. It consists of the powdered juice of organically grown barley leaves and organically grown alfalfa.

It’s been my habit to consume this barley grass drink every morning for a few years. One of the reasons I do it is because I know that green drinks are super healthy and I’m often too lazy to make my own fresh juices, including wheatgrass juice. So it’s a little bit of insurance for me.

I’m pretty healthy and I don’t have a big, impressive testimony to share. However, about the time I started consuming this product, it felt like I was starting to develop arthritis in a couple of my fingers. I noticed that two or three finger joints were slightly swollen and sore. After taking my barley/alfalfa drink every morning for some time, I noticed that the swollen, sore sensation was gone. Of course, there’s no way to know what caused that, but the only thing I was doing differently was taking this drink.

How It’s Made

I’m very selective about the nutritional supplements I take. I prefer that they are as close to nature as possible. Since this product is produced from organically grown barley and alfalfa, that’s one very important thing.

Another is the way in which it is produced. The plants are harvested in the spring and fall when they are young and tender, providing for a better nutrition yield. The young grasses are ground and slowly pressed into juice which is strained of pulp. Then the juice goes into a chilling tank where it’s held at 34 degrees to maintain nutrients and enzymes.

Next, the juice is dried. At this point, some manufacturers use freezing or spraying to dry their juices. But this company uses a special patented drying process that takes the product to less than 5% moisture.

During this drying process, the maximum temperature that’s ever reached is 98 degrees F.

Once the juices are dried, it’s converted into powder form and mixed together into a fine powder consistency.

So, barley grass is an organically grown product that is a raw food . That’s very important for making sure it has optimum nutrition, including a high level of enzymes that allow the body to assimilate vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients that don’t show up on the above chart include:

  • Chlorophyll, which has many amazing health benefits. It has been shown to speed up the healing of wounds, provide protection against chemicals and radiation, and inhibit the carcinogenic effects of common dietary and environmental toxins. It promotes intestinal regularity. Chlorophyll may also help to increase the number of red blood cells in the body and boost the body’s ability to use oxygen.
  • Antioxidants that help the body counteract free radicals, thus help with maintaining a strong immune system.
  • Enzymes, which are critical in maintaining good health. They also allow for better assimilation of vitamins and minerals.

Another positive characteristic of young barley leaves is that they are extremely alkaline. Most foods commonly eaten, especially on the processed SAD diet, are very acidic. If too many of them are eaten, the acid/alkaline balance is upset and disease results.

For those who follow a gluten-free diet, BarleyMax® is free of gluten.

Amazing Alfalfa

Let’s not forget about alfalfa, all by itself. It is known to have every known vitamin, a high chlorophyll content, and a rich selection of minerals. It’s known for its ability to lower cholesterol naturally, and it also has a reputation for increasing energy, assisting with kidney stones, and improving the immune system.

How to Take Powdered Barley Grass and Alfalfa

It’s best taken on an empty stomach, 20 to 30 minutes before meals. You just mix the powder in about 4 ounces of water, or you could use apple juice if you don’t like the flavor. I happen to like that green flavor, and I use less than 4 ounces because I like it. I use a whisk to make sure it’s mixed well. Shaking in a jar also works better than just stirring with a spoon.
