Excitotoxins Are Found in Nearly
All Processed Foods

Excitotoxins are substances added to foods and beverages that basically stimulate neurons to death, causing brain and body damage of varying degrees.

Two food additives that are of current concern are aspartame and monosodium glutamate (MSG).

Some Chinese restaurants advertise that they don’t use MSG, and we feel virtuous for giving our business to those restaurants. But if you buy processed foods, you are still in danger of consuming these harmful food additives.

These toxins are not present in just a few foods, but in almost ALL processed foods. Many times, the big corporate food manufacturers disguise the toxins and give them harmless-sounding names such as natural flavoring, yeast extract, spices, textured protein, soy protein extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, etc.

What’s the Danger?

Increasingly, scientists and clinicians believe that these toxins play a critical role in the development of several neurological disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and other conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, ALS, Parkinson’s, migraines, seizures, infections, abnormal neural development, certain endocrine disorders, certain types of obesity, attention deficit disorder, autism, cerebral palsy, and schizophrenia.

Glutamate/aspartate excitotoxicity may even be implicated in the “typical” middle/old-age memory loss, confusion and mild intellectual deterioration.

soft drink Excitotoxins in liquid form, such as in soups, gravies and soft drinks, are even more dangerous because they are more rapidly absorbed and reach higher blood levels.

How to Avoid these Toxins

The safest and healthiest thing to do is to focus on eating unprocessed, whole foods. Even reading labels on processed foods is tricky because the names the food manufacturers give their toxic ingredients are made up to sound innocent.

In “The Truth about Aspartame, MSG and Excitotoxins, an Interview with Dr. Russell Blaylock, with Mike Adams,” Dr. Blaylock said:

"Aspartame is not a necessary nutrient, and neither is MSG. The weight of the evidence is overwhelming. If you want to avoid obesity, metabolic syndrome, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, and if you don't want to make your cancer more aggressive, then you need to stay away from these products."

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the best thing you can do for yourself and your healthy family is to consume a predominantly organic , whole food, unprocessed diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
