Healthy Eating Guidelines for Staying Healthy

By observing healthy eating guidelines, you will help yourself and your family stay healthy and even prevent disease from occurring in the first place.

I often hear people talk about their conditions from a genetic standpoint, as in, “Well, cancer runs in my family.” This sometimes causes a sort of helplessness or a feeling of “Why bother? There’s nothing I can do about it.”

Certainly, our DNA may predispose us to certain conditions. We’ve all noticed how arthritis or heart disease or diabetes seems to run in certain families. And yes, there may be a genetic marker that those family members carry.

However, there’s good news...

Those disease-predisposing genes may not express that disease condition if a healthful lifestyle is followed, including observing healthy eating guidelines.

It’s frustrating and heartbreaking to watch loved ones give up in the face of serious illness. I have a dear family member who is doing that, convinced that his lifestyle has nothing to do with his current poor health. He says his medical doctors have told him that it makes no difference if he smokes or eats steaks fried in butter, so he continues to do so. If that’s truly what they have told him it’s sad and unfortunate. Within the medical community that's what many believe and often teach their uninformed patients who trust their doctors to give them the best advice.

But for those with open minds…

Eating right is one easily controllable lifestyle factor that will help immensely to keep you disease free, full of energy and enjoying life.

By eating well you can protect yourself and your family from cancer, recover from diabetes and hypoglycemia, halt arthritis in its tracks, strengthen your immune system, get over food allergies and intolerances, lower your blood pressure, and even reverse heart disease.

Your immune system will be strengthened, and this is the foundation of keeping healthy.

Don’t worry about things that you can’t control, like your DNA. Instead, focus on living the healthiest lifestyle you can. Eat good foods, get adequate rest and moderate exercise, get sunshine on your body, drink clean water, and enjoy some stress-reducing practice(s).

If you’re not sure about what to eat, spend some time browsing through the pages of this website for advice and suggestions. It’s loaded with good information to help you stay healthy.
