Enjoy Healthy Family Eating Habits!
Having a healthy family entails many things: high quality, affordable health care and insurance; education; the availability of good jobs at a living wage; affordable and safe housing; a clean, safe environment; freedom from violence; respect; religious freedom; good nutrition.
The focus of this website is healthy eating, and that’s what we’ll concentrate on: proper nutrition for your healthy family. It’s especially important to educate your children about nutritious eating from an early age, teaching them to form healthy habits for life by your example and passing along useful information. Don’t let kids fill up on sweet drinks, especially sodas. Sodas are bad for everyone. They are
sugar
and chemicals. Even diet soda is not a healthy drink. There is some evidence that it may trigger insulin release due to a Pavlovian response. A research study showed that children are 1.6 times more likely to be obese for every soft drink consumed. Just one! Juice is a somewhat better choice, but it’s still too sweet to drink often. Dilute it with water. Encourage your children to drink water instead.
Raw FamilyThis book, Raw Family, is an inspirational story about a family faced with serious health issues. The mother, Victoria Boutenko, was distressed to learn her nine-year-old son Sergei had juvenile diabetes and was advised by the doctor to begin insulin injections. Instead of starting on the recommended medical regimen, the entire family went on a raw food diet cold turkey. Sergei’s diabetes was cured and his mother’s heart condition was healed. All four family members were healed of various diseases and conditions. I love this book! Not only is it encouraging and inspirational, it’s a good adventure story of the healthy family’s hiking the Pacific Crest Trail as 100% raw foodists. It includes photos and tasty recipes.
Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity
is considered by many to be an epidemic in Western countries, especially the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. One reason could be the use of
baby formula
for feeding infants.I recently heard Dr. Russell Blaylock say that every great epidemic has followed mass malnutrition. I don’t imagine that most people in the West would say they suffer from malnutrition, but that’s what happens when people overeat junk food in lieu of a healthy plant-based diet.
In one study, researchers learned that 68% of children’s lunchboxes contained fruit, and 90% had junk food. C’mon, parents! What do you think they’ll eat first and then be too filled up to eat the good food?
Eating Out Eating out can be a problem. Researchers found that four out of five parents let their children make their own food choices. If family meals are infrequent, children are less likely to ever eat vegetables. It seems that some schools are more interested in earning a little extra money by having vending machines that push sodas and other junk food on the children than in having healthy food available for students. In addition to poor dietary habits, inactivity is a major contributor to childhood obesity. Kids spend a great deal of their time planted in front of the TV or computer or playing video games.
Senior Health
At the other end of the family spectrum are the elders. Aging doesn’t have to be a grim prospect. Our later years can be filled with happiness and vitality by practicing healthy eating habits. Good nutrition has anti-aging benefits, including plenty of antioxidants to help battle the free radicals and
inflammation
that can speed up aging, and allows seniors to feel energetic, feel like getting more exercise, and live longer. Russell Blaylock, M.D., stated at a recent seminar I attended that with good nutrition the aging immune system is just as good as a 20-year-old’s. That’s encouraging!
