Benefits of Honey and Cinnamon
Honey and cinnamon taste good together. Have you tried the combination on whole grain toast? It’s sweetly delicious.
These two substances also have some wonderful health benefits. Here are 10 natural remedies, some supported by research, others perhaps folk remedies:
- The daily use of honey and cinnamon can strengthen the immune system and protect the body from bacterial and viral attacks. It has also been said to strengthen the white blood cells so they can better fight diseases caused by bacteria and viruses.
- Have a toothache? It may sound strange to put a sweet substance on an aching tooth, but there may be something to this remedy. Make a paste of five teaspoons of honey and one teaspoon cinnamon and apply it to the tooth.
- Improve cardiovascular health. A mixture of honey and cinnamon may help reduce cholesterol and revitalize arteries and nerves, relieve shortness of breath and improve the heartbeat.
- Digestive problems. Studies in India and Japan revealed that the mixture relieves gas in the stomach, relieves stomachaches, and clears stomach ulcers. Honey has been proven to prevent the growth of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach (J R Soc Med, Jan 1994). It also reduces gastritis caused by too much alcohol ingestion.
- Arthritis symptoms may be relieved by drinking hot water with cinnamon and honey.
- Germs that cause bladder infections may be destroyed by drinking warm water with the two ingredients in it.
- Make a paste of one part honey, two parts lukewarm water, and a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Massage this mixture on insect bites.
- If you are suffering from hair loss or baldness, try applying a paste made of olive oil, honey, and cinnamon powder. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then wash your hair.
- Interestingly, the tasty combination is said to assist with weight loss. Drink a warm mixture on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and at night before sleeping.
- For a pimple outbreak, apply a mixture of three parts honey to two parts cinnamon daily for two weeks before bedtime.
Important Notes:- Use real raw unpasteurized honey. The label must say RAW or UNPASTEURIZED. Otherwise, the healing enzymes will have been heated out of it.
- Honey should not be given to children younger than 12 months of age. There have been some cases of botulism in infants fed honey. It’s not well understood what causes the botulism, but experts think the sweetener might become contaminated by spores from dirt which the bees pick up and then take to the hive.
