Oregano Oil is an Immune-Enhancing Substance

Oregano oil is a powerful and versatile essential oil that contains potent immune-enhancing and antioxidant properties.

Oregano has an approximate ORAC of 153,007 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.

Historically, the herb was listed in Hildegard’s Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by the herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179).

Benefits

  • Use in cooking to enhance the flavor of food. You don’t need much, because it’s a concentrated flavor.

  • It is known to destroy microorganisms that cause infections and digestive problems.

  • In aromatherapy, it creates a feeling of security. Use caution in inhaling directly from the bottle or diffuser, as it may irritate the nasal membranes of your nose.

  • The essential oil is said to be anti-aging, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, and an immune stimulant.

  • It has been used to help with arthritis, respiratory infectious diseases, infections, and digestive problems.

Food Poisoning Protection

Here's something I read recently. This is not my own first-hand experience, but I would certainly try it if necessary. I read that if you're concerned about eating where there might be a risk of getting food poisoning (for instance, if you're traveling in an "iffy" location, far from home and medical care, and are concerned about the quality of the food), take oregano oil before each meal. The writer said that once he started doing that, he was protected.

How to Apply the Essential Oil

Dilute 1 part of the Essential Oil with 4 parts of a carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil. Then…

  1. Apply 1-2 drops topically.
  2. Apply to chakras or vitaflex points.
  3. Diffuse.
  4. Take as a dietary supplement (dilute 1 drop in 4 ounces of a liquid such as soy or rice milk).
