A Weight Loss System to Help You Track Your Progress

The Weight-By-Date weight loss system presents itself as attractive, informative software that gives you an easy way to keep track of your progress, and it is flexible enough to work with just about any diet and fitness routine.

I’ve used this system for a few days and my initial impression is that I like it very much. An important consideration for me is having a program that will allow me to easily enter in new foods and recipes, because I don’t follow the Standard American Diet (SAD) and need to enter in different types of food than those that are found in a typical diet program database.

So, I was pleased with that feature. I could enter in details about, say, BarleyMax or a can of Amy’s lentil soup, and the program automatically adjusts the nutrients and calories to reflect the portion size. I’ve tried another program in which you have to manually enter the new portion sizes every time you change the amount. That’s too much work.

Free Trial

This is a great feature… a fully functional 15-day trial, so you can see if you like this weight loss system. A nice part of this is that it just seems to keep track of the actual days you log on to the program. I skipped a few days and it didn’t keep track of those missed days, so my trial is actually longer.

When you open up the trial version, you’re presented with a calendar, like this sample page:

Weight-By-Date Calendar

You enter in your weight for the day and it tracks nutrient intake (such as fiber, sugar, protein, sodium, cholesterol, and fat), calories, and weight, daily and weekly.

Next, you head over to the Journal area. Here’s a screenshot of the Meals & Snacks journal where you enter in what you’ve eaten each day. This takes a little bit of figuring, but there is online help and tutorials if you need them.

Then there’s a journal for entering Exercises & Workouts:

When you click on New, you’re taken to a long list of possible activities… all kinds of exercises, even daily activities like showering. You enter in the amount of time you spent at each activity and it automatically figures the calories you burned. Great tool!

The next journal is where you enter Body Measurements. I have to admit I didn’t do that, but it looks easy and straightforward.

There’s also a Planner where you can plan your meals ahead of time, if you’re so inclined. I didn’t try this tool, either.

Charts

I like to look at charts. This is perhaps the only downside for me, because I would enjoy more charts, like lists of nutrients. But this may not be all that important to other people. It does have a few good, simple charts related to weight loss, including your body mass index:

  • Weight Lost by Week
  • Weight Progress by Day
  • Calories Burned by Day
  • Your Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Your Body Measurements

Is it Worth Buying?

One Tool Blender I think Weight-By-Date is an excellent, easy-to-use program to help anyone keep track of their weight-loss progress. It’s a weight loss system that encourages you to stay the course, because you can graphically see how you’re doing each day.

You are able to actually see what making a change in, say, your exercise program results in, perhaps to see the difference walking an extra 20 minutes a day makes in burning calories. When you become more conscious of exercise and diet details, it becomes easier to lose weight and stay movitated… and get the results you’re hoping for.

My Opinion

I agree with the initial paragraph of my review: The Weight-By-Date weight loss system IS attractive, informative software that gives you an easy way to keep track of your progress. In addition, as a vegetarian, I learned that it is flexible enough to work with just about any diet and fitness routine.

There’s a Pro and a Basic version. Here’s a comparison chart to help you decide which is right for you:

At the time of this writing, the Pro version costs $57.99 and the Basic version $37.99. If you’re not sure about buying yet, there’s always the 15-Day free trial.

Try it and see how easy it is to to keep your diet on track with Weight-By-Date.
